Description

This position is a full-time, Monday-Friday, daylight role working in Oakdale, PA. Candidates with HIV, Transplant, and/or Hemophilia experience are highly preferred. 

Purpose:
Ensure the provision of cost-effective pharmacotherapy contributing to optimal patient outcomes, provide medication therapy management for the specialty patient population and support the growth of the specialty pharmacy business and expansion of clinical services

Responsibilities:
  • Possesses the ability to multi-task in fast-paced office environment.
  • Identifies and reports suspected adverse drug reactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Interpret and evaluate physician orders in order to dispense appropriate specialty medications in accordance with the Pennsylvania Pharmacy Practice Act, Federal Drug Laws, and other regulatory organizations.
  • Participates in specialty pharmacy marketing efforts as requested.
  • Maintains thorough and appropriate documentation in the patient record of all clinical activities and communication with patients, physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Coordinates and facilitates new patient referrals and specialty patient medication refills in collaboration with pharmacy operations.
  • Provides clinical education, monitoring and medication management activities for specialty pharmacy patients (Medication Therapy Management).
  • Understands billing, reimbursement, case management and other third party payer requirements/implications for specialty pharmacy products and services.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook)

Qualifications

B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.) from an accredited school of pharmacy required. 6-12 months of pharmacy experience is required or former externs of pharmacy student program Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) required Previous experience or familiarity with specialty pharmacy is preferred. Good written and oral communications skills required
