UPMC Chautauqua is currently hiring a Courier for their WCA Hospital and surrounding areas.  This position has the responsibility and accountability for the proper transportation of hospital supplies and laboratory specimens. The courier will deliver supplies to various physician offices and off site locations. The courier will retrieve supplies and samples from off site location and physician offices and transport them according to established protocol and then distribute supplies and specimens in an appropriate manner.


This is a full-time, Monday-Friday position, with the hours of 10:30am-7pm.

  • Attend mandatory safety, compliance, and other meetings required by the laboratory and hospital guidelines.
  • Interact with all laboratory customers courteously and professionally; responds to telephone inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Keep accurate logs of laboratory samples and obtains documentation and signatures as required.
  • Perform all responsibilities according to the philosophy of the UPMC Health System such that the needs of our customers are fulfilled.
  • Attend in-services, lectures, and training classes as required.
  • Deliver hospital supplies to off-site locations and physician offices or where needed.
  • Adhere to established laboratory and hospital policies.
  • Promptly inform supervisors of any problems or issues.
  • Transport supplies to the hospital in situations as needed.
  • Transport patient samples to the laboratory following the established safety procedures.
  • Retrieve laboratory samples from off-site locations and physician offices.
  • Demonstrate dependability, reliability, and independent judgment recognizing priorities to accommodate department needs and acceptance of appropriate authority.



  • High School diploma or equivalent. 
  • Valid drivers license. Ability to receive, comprehend, and carry out instructions; ability to work safely with equipment, supplies, and materials; ability to comply with attendance requirements; ability to comply with Personnel policies.
