Description
The 340B Pharmacy Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing innovative solutions to provide operational accountability, management and process development of the 340B program.
Responsibilities:
- Analyzs and oversee the utilization of technological solutions in place for 340B program facilitation (e.g.split billing Software, contract pharmacy software).
- Effectively communicate strategy, goals, progress and results to executive management and other matrix partners.
- Assist in the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of system-wide pharmacy programs.
- Serve as the primary conduit for issues, programs and information exchange for pharmacy services to assure consistent system-wide performance.
- Provide oversight of the 340B program across the health system, assuring compliance and providing reporting to appropriate parties. Work with strategic partners to optimize the return of the program.
- Provide vendor oversight, including reviewing performance reports, contractual monitoring, and regulation changes.
- Develop and enhance, in collaboration with Information Services, new and innovative methods for facilitating the Operations and oversight of the 340B program.
- Manage and develop employees to successfully achieve Pharmacy Services Line goals.
- Interface with internal and external clients to ensure optimal performance of all pharmacy services across UPMC.
- Effectively manage large project teams and/or high-priority effectors to achieve high-quality results.
- Develop, champion, and implement programs and procedures to assure effective and efficient use of pharmacy resources.
- Develop and maintain internal compliance programs, including self-audit processes, for all participating Hospitals.
- Ensure that 340B-related policies and procedures are in compliance with state and federal guidelines, and are implemented by all participating hospitals.
- Represent pharmacy in committees overseeing strategic initiatives impacting system-wide pharmacy services.
- Generate innovative ideas which are strategically sound and challenge the status quo. Define alternative/compromise solutions that address others' fundamental concerns and impacts on long-term relationships and systematically convey pros and cons of alternative solutions and achieve consensus on direction/approach.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy is required.
- Master's degree in Business/Management or Hospital Pharmacy Administration or related field is preferred.
- Five to Seven years hospital pharmacy operations experience required,
- Including minimum three years management experience (operations, purchasing/procurement, pharmacy billing/information systems).
- Strong management, problem solving, organizational and communication skills are required.
- Ability to perform planning for large initiatives/projects, overseeing all tasks required to provide services to meet client and business needs within budget and targeted deadlines.
- Strategic planning skills required. Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to influence others.
