Western Psychiatric Hospital is looking for a Research Specialist! This is a Full-Time position with up to 40 hours per week. Hours range Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 5:00pm. This position is within a lab that is focused on neurobiology of psychosis and risk for schizophrenia and related disorders. This position will be responsible for contacting research participants, screening, conducting reserach evaluations, data entry, quality control, etc. 

Experience in administering structured psychiatric instruments is preferred! 

This is a grant funded position. 

Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s). Collect and gather research data for research project.

  • Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s) including recruitment, scheduling appointments, obtaining written consent forms, collecting data by conducting phone or face to face interviews for research project(s).
  • Collaborate with senior research personnel regarding recruitment, data collection, outcomes of interviews, reports according to the needs of the study.
  • Organization of the clinical and cognitive data for analysis
  • Educate and train students, volunteers and new recruits
  • Recruit volunteer participants to research studies
  • Entry of clinical and neurocognitive data into computer database
  • Screen subjects for research studies using semi-structured questionnaires
  • Other related duties as assigned in connection with research
  • Development of data queries for statistical analysis
  • Administer structured clinical and neurocognitive assessment to complete all research evaluations


  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in psychology, neuroscience, sociology or related research field.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
