Description

Purpose:
The Psychologist II will conduct evaluation with young children suspected of meeting diagnostic criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This involves diagnostic interview and assessment, including administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – Second Edition (ADOS-2). The psychologist also provides feedback and recommendations to patients, families, and/or community agencies/providers. Depending on skills and areas of expertise, the psychologist may assume additional roles or specialty services to other programs; however, the psychologist’s primary role will be diagnostic evaluation of ASD.


Responsibilities:

  • Consults and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams regarding patient care such as diagnosis, recommendations, and treatment planning.
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain accurate and complete records and data collection performed in a timely fashion.

  • Demonstrates highly developed knowledge and skill in autism and differential diagnosis of psychiatric disorders.

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant literature and empirically validated treatments.

  • Maintains knowledge of the literature relevant to the patient population.

  • Participates in regular meetings with direct supervisor to review adherence to program standards.

  • Performs psychological assessment and offers accurate diagnostic impressions.

  • Provides behavioral health services using empirically validated assessments and treatment interventions.

  • Provides crisis sessions to support and assist patients experiencing acute distress and/or symptoms, as needed.

  • Provides formal teaching and supervision for staff and trainees.

  • Schedules sufficient volume of patients so that direct service productivity standards are maintained within the department.

  • Works collaboratively with other service lines at UPMC and outside agencies, assuring continuity of care with referral sources and other providers. May participate in quality assurance projects or research efforts (e.g., assisting in recruitment, conducting assessment, providing treatment) as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology (PsyD or PhD) from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of experience in Psychology or related field.
  • Post-doctoral fellowship in position specific area (preferred).
  • Excellent clinical interviewing and assessment/therapy skills to work with patients and families. Strong interpersonal skills.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) 
  • Active Pennsylvania Psychology License 
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
