Description
The Pharmacy Operations Specialist, Senior provides advanced operational support within pharmacy by demonstrating advanced knowledge of the responsibilities of a designated pharmacy role (i.e. Inventory Control, Chemotherapy, Medication Safety, Automation, Information Technology?etc) Provides progressive technical knowledge, coordination of activities, support of new initiatives and create a shared experience and support among associates. The Pharmacy Operations Specialist, Intermediate services are provided in compliance with Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in training other Operations Specialists in determining their ability to function in DESIGNATED area of the Pharmacy department.
- Oversee the coordination of daily activities, organization of duties and responsibilities, and the development of workflow guidelines and other necessary tools to maximize productivity in DESIGNATED area.
- Create and lead departmental quality improvement activities in order to continually improve and evaluate pharmaceutical care as reflected by operational indicators.
- Collaborate with Pharmacy Administration on innovative projects and developments that further the Department's mission and goals.
- Demonstrate a service orientation in all interpersonal relations. Conveys a positive, professional image at all times.
- Provide and received information (via telephone, person-to-person, or written) to hospital personnel, patients and visitors. Refer all drug information questions to Staff Pharmacists.
- Use computer skills to process and document information as needed for Operations Specialist's designated area
- Provide feedback to the needs of the department and other associates in a respectful and effective manner consistent with UPMC values
- Perform assigned job responsibilities with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Provide progressive technical knowledge, coordination of activities, support of new initiatives, and create a shared experience and support among associates within DESIGNATED area.
- Develop and maintain a clean, organized, and adequately stocked work environment.
- Maintain all pertinent documentation as required.
- Ensure that all medications in all areas have been safely and securely stored according to Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
- Oversee and instruct other associates in the DESIGNATED area regarding day-to-day activities.
Qualifications
Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required or completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Certification within Specialty AND/OR Pharmacy Technician Certification
