Description

This Research Specialist will be part of the NIH funded Pittsburgh site of the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study. The ABCD Research Consortium is the largest long-term brain development study in the US.  It consists of 21 research sites across the country and has enrolled over 10,000 children ages 9-10.  Researchers are currently tracking their biological and behavioral development through adolescence into young adulthood. The ideal candidate is able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate subjects, has attention to detail, ability to work independently and to establish rapport with research subject. 


This position is grant funded 


Purpose:

Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s). Collect and gather research data for research project.

Responsibilities:
  • Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s) including recruitment, scheduling appointments, obtaining written consent forms, collecting data by conducting phone or face to face interviews for research project(s).
  • Collaborate with senior research personnel regarding recruitment, data collection, outcomes of interviews, reports according to the needs of the study.
Grant Funded Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research assessments with parents, children and teens including structured interviews, neuropsychological testing and self-report computerized measures 
  • Assist in MRI screening, preparation and brain imaging scans, provide instructions to subjects while undergoing MRI
  • Explain research protocol and obtain informed consent from participants
  • Maintain and update database, perform data entry and verification as needed
  • Track and assess subjects for follow-up, participate in the active retention of subjects, schedule and confirm appointments
  • Process participant payments via the Vincent system, arrange for subject transportation
  • Attend weekly staff coordinator meetings with study coordinator and/or investigators to provide study progress report 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in psychology, neuroscience, sociology or related research field.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous work experience with elementary aged children and teens
  • Phlebotomy experience 
  • Working knowledge of web-based research data collection
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Driver's License
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
