UPMC Health Plan is hiring full-time Community Health Technician, Paramedics to help support the Connect Community Paramedics department.
The incumbent will primarily work a Monday through Friday schedule. Early mornings will be required when health screenings/events are taking place. Possible overnight travel or weekend coverage will be required when staffing various events/programs.
Reliable transportation and management of equipment preparation/equipment return is required.
The Community Health Technician is responsible for registering and then guiding patients through the health screening /community health process. The technician must set up and calibrate equipment as well as collect patient samples for the purpose of analyzing blood glucose and a total lipid panel. Blood pressure and BMI will also be assessed. They will also assist the Operations Supervisor as required.
Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned, as it relates to Community Paramedic support.
- Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
- Perform duties in accordance with scope of Paramedic certification
- Assist health coaches with patient education as needed
- Assist with photocopying, marketing material assembly, data input, and phone call follow-up
- Assist with disease management and other preventive health services, including planning, implementation, service delivery and evaluation of these programs as requested
Qualifications
- Paramedic required.
- Minimum of 1-year experience in public health, EMS, health screenings or other health related field.
- Proficient in MS Word/Excel.
- Ability to interact effectively with senior management, EMTs/paramedics, and program participants.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to work early morning hours and weekend hours as necessary.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Previous or current Paramedic certification
