UPMC EA Clinical Analytics is seeking a Senior BI Developer to support the Qlikview/Qliksense BI strategy at UPMC, allowing the department to provide novel solutions to our clinical and operational leaders through innovative application development and intelligent design.

The Sr. BI Developer will lead the analysis of business product campaigns and their performance and develop a process to move data output from existing static content to interactive (Visualization) in the form of Dashboards and performance analytics within BI (Business Intelligence) tools (such as Tableau, Qlik, and other BI tools). Additionally, The Sr. BI Developer will utilize advanced analytical techniques to increase understanding of effectiveness/ROI of all efforts. Will work closely with IT to facilitate governance, administrations and technical integrations.

Administration & Security for production environment

Design and develop a process to compile data for identification and analysis into interactive Dashboards within business tools to help the team have a comprehensive view of all lead sources, campaigns and performance.

Design, develop, and generate ad hoc reports and analysis by querying database using analytical tools.

Lead all dashboard designing and architecture projects for analytics

Organize data and implement analytic data marts and business intelligence views for performance monitoring, measurement, evaluation vs. forecasts, and financial measures. Recommend and design ongoing improvements to process to improve program performance measurement.



Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Computer Science or related disciplines (Preferred: Masters/MBA)

Required: Two years of BI experience

Knowledge in Tableau/Qlik Installation, Configuration, Administration, Security, Development, and Designing

Preferred: 2 plus years of SQL Server & Oracle database experience.

Proficient in building and optimizing complex SQL queries

Strong communication and presentation skill

Demonstrated ability to structure and conduct analyses to generate insight and recommendations 

Experience working with marketing or IT

Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, and forge strong interpersonal relationships within the department, with other departments, and with external audiences. 

Excellent planning, communication, documentation, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm and initiative on a daily basis. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment a must. Experience working with minimal direction, with a keen ability to leverage business-sense to guide decision making. 




Preferred Qualifications:

  • Qlik Certified highly preferred
  • Experience leading a team
  • Well versed in server management, with experience deploying a Qlik Sense Environment (Qlik Sense Governance Model)
  •  Experience creating detailed documentation and change control

  • Javascript/ VB experience for both future integration as well as creation of custom objects
