Description
The Department of Psychiatry has an immediate opening for a Flex Full-Time (average 28 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week maximum) Master’s level biostatistician to collaborate and conduct analyses on completed and ongoing research projects. Under the supervision of a faculty Biostatistician, and in collaboration with Department of Psychiatry investigators, the successful candidate will assist with several research projects to analyze data and interpret and communicate results, as well as participate in grant development. Specific responsibilities are as follows:
- Data Analysis: The individual will select appropriate statistical methods (including both classical and modern approaches), create variables and datasets as needed, and apply the methods to analyze data and interpret the results. The individual will prepare and present oral and written reports of findings, including tables and graphical displays.
- Develop Reports and Manuscripts: The individual will assist in the development of reports or manuscripts for peer-review, including but not limited to scholarly journals. Additional duties may include review of statistical components of protocols for scientific or IRB review and/or statistical analysis plans
- Grant Development: The individual will participate in the development of research study designs. This will include selecting appropriate statistical analysis methods and conducting sample size and power calculations. The individual will collaborate on the development of research or project grant applications and contribute to grant writing.
Provide statistical support and direction to a large research project.
Responsibilities:
- Design and carry out statistical analysis
- Collaborate closely with outside investigators as needed to complete publications etc.
- Document analyses and constructs used in analysis.
- Participate in the preparation of manuscripts and research reports and presentations from data generated by these studies.
- Write new programs for data analysis and conduct new data analysis as needed.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Statistics, Psychology, or a related Social Science field is required.
- One year of relevant experience with statistical analyses and packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS, R) and Microsoft Office components (e.g. EXCEL, Word, PowerPoint) preferably in research setting.
- Ability to perform descriptive data analysis; to perform statistical modeling for univariate, clustered, longitudinal or time-to-event data; and to execute specialized analyses under the direction of a PhD biostatistician
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills, both oral and written
- Interest in learning about diverse areas of psychiatric, sleep and circadian research
- Master’s degree in Statistics or Biostatistics or very closely related field strongly preferred
