Description

UPMC Pinnacle is currently hiring a Telephone Operator for the Wormleysburg Physician Office location. This is a full time day position and requires mainly sedentary work. The candidate will be the main point of contact for the patients at the Wormleysburg Physician Office. May be required to travel to additional sites for training purposes.

Responsibilities:
  • May train new operators.
  • May be required to do system data entry on request.
  • Provide service to multiple answering service clients utilizing individualized protocols.
  • Provide Physician on call information to requesting individuals.
  • Use required phrasing at all times when answering telephone calls.
  • Answer multiple lines while maintaining good customer service.
  • Determine callers requirements (extension desired, information requested, etc.) and transfer call.
  • Process patient refill requests by inbasket messaging 
  • Process messages from patient concerns for health issues by sending inbasket requests to nursing staff. 
  • Assist patients with appointment time questions
  • Provide driving directions to patients
  • First line of communication for patients calling for other medical groups
  • Experience with medical terminology preferred

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent. 
  • 1 year of experience answering and processing calls through automated phone system or 1 year of customer service experience. 
  • Must be able to work all shifts, 7 days a week. 
  • Ability to interpret procedure manuals (i.e., fire, trouble, disaster, etc.).

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
