Are you a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the York/Hanover area looking for something different? Are you looking for a position you will be able to use a range of your nursing clinical skills on a regular basis? UPMC's Express Care sites are in need of a LPN to float to the different locations to help cover staffing needs. The locations include New Oxford, Hanover, and Spring Grove, with the possibility of 2 York locations, Green Brier and Whiteford road in the future.
At the Express Care, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is essential to the funtioning of the facility and provides professional nursing care to office patients under supervision of patient care providers. There will be 2 providers each day at each site. The LPN works directly with the provider rooming patients and assisting with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
The LPN will receive Mileage reimbursement plus hourly wage. The hours would be various shifts between 8am-8pm Monday-Sunday. Weekend work is every 3rd weekend only. Shifts could be 12 hour shifts, 8 hour shifts, 6 hour shifts, and 4 hour shifts, but would total 40 hours. This schedule can be discussed further in the interview with the manager.
Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Give injections
- Patient education and admistration of vaccines
- Assisting providers with small procedures including but not limited to wound care, sutures & removal, foreign object removal, eye wash, etc.
- Ability to draw blood is helpful, but not required
- Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
- Administer medications including oral, SQ, and IM
- Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
- Comply with all policies and procedures.
- Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
- Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
- Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
Qualifications

Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.

One year clinical experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
