We are currently hiring a full-time Burn Care Coordinator to support our Trauma Burn Unit!


Purpose:
Facilitates all burn care therapies. Reviews the nursing care and ensures appropriate use of hospital resources to meet the needs of the patient. Coordinates and facilitates the development of the Burn Program in relation to ABA verification process. Demonstrates evidence of quality of care as applicable with the American Burn Association (ABA) and Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF) standards and maintains active participation in preparing and participating in ABA site visits. Also acts a liaison for the burn patient and the clinical management team.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide formal and informal health care instructions to patient and family as dictated by patient needs.
  • Function as a liaison between IS and the Burn Program to ensure efficient data capture from existing documentation modes and the creation of additional fields of documentation as needed.
  • Establish goals and plan for quality improvement initiatives related to development of screening, documentation, and assessment of burn care.
  • Act as a liaison with patients, families and physicians regarding level of care needs.
  • Follow-up as needed on patients who are discharged home daily after hydrotherapy.
  • Provide clinical oversight for all aspects of the burn care area within the hydrotherapy area with direct reporting to clinical manager.
  • Facilitate and coordinate burn care activities with ancillary departments.
  • Develop and maintain burn patient/family support group.
  • Monitor ongoing documentation of patient care and data collection in the hydrotherapy and burn care areas, excluding the inpatient critical care burn area.
  • Develop and enhance a system of coordinated care for all burn patients discharged home daily from hydrotherapy area.
  • Ensure patient transit in a timely and seamless manner to hydrotherapy area from internal areas of hospital.
  • Monitor ongoing documentation of patient care and data collection.
  • Develop scheduling system within a predetermined time frame for scheduled and emergent burn care therapies and maintain an accurate schedule of all appointments ensuring timeliness and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • BSN preferred.
  • 5 years of nursing experience.
  • 2 years of burn care experience preferred
  • Case management experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Ability to be self directed.
  • Basic knowledge of current managed care requirements.
  • Basic computer skills with database entry experience.
  • Excellent patient assessment and health teach skills.
  • Ability to obtain and interpret medical information related to specific needs of patients.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Act 34
