Description
Dr. Melhem’s research focuses on studying the familial, genetic, environmental, and biological pathways implicated in suicidal behavior; and studying psychological and biological responses to stress across the spectrum of psychopathology. This current project aims to identify predictors in the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis (HPA) of the brain and inflammatory pathways for suicidal behavior in youth.
This position will be responsible for interfacing effectively with research staff to maintain efficient communication about data collection, entry, quality control issues and reports. This position will also work closely with the Principal Investigator and students to compile and analyze datasets from various projects and participate in manuscripts.
This position is grant funded
Provide statistical support and direction to a large research project.
Responsibilities:
- Design and carry out statistical analysis
- Collaborate closely with outside investigators as needed to complete publications etc.
- Document analyses and constructs used in analysis.
- Participate in the preparation of manuscripts and research reports and presentations from data generated by these studies.
- Write new programs for data analysis and conduct new data analysis as needed.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Statistics, Psychology, or a related Social Science field is required.
- One year of relevant experience with statistical analyses and packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS, R) and Microsoft Office components (e.g. EXCEL, Word, PowerPoint) preferably in research setting.
