Patient Services Coordinator (Casual)

Description

 

Under the direction of leadership, the Patient Service Coordinator is responsible for managing the clinic and providing outstanding customer service to all patients and families.


This position will require clerical work in addition to patient support. The schedule for this position will vary. It will include nights, weekends, and holidays. The ideal candidate will have customer service experience in addition to strong communication skills.  


Responsibilities:

  • Participates with unit management in identifying needs or issues affecting the internal functioning of the DEC and assumes a proactive position with problem solving.
  • Participate as member of a multidisciplinary treatment team, working in conjunction with DEC staff.
  • Maintain high visibility. Stationed in a prominent area in the clinic that is readily identifiable and accessible to customer.
  • Conducts patient safety searches.
  • Continuously monitors environment and facilitates correction of any detraction from the appearance, comfort and safety of the clinic.
  • Manage crisis situations effectively using positive approaches and CCM training.
  • Greets each person entering the clinic, identifies self and role. Explains processes and procedures to new patients and assists with paperwork.
  • Maintain the therapeutic milieu, including safety.
  • Respond appropriately to crisis situation as a team member.
  • Immediately report any situation that may impact safety of patients, visitors and staff
  • Provides front desk coverage as assigned.
  • Maintains competency requirements.
  • Completes assigned projects in a timely manner.
  • Account for all customers in the clinic.
  • Serve as liaison between customer and clinic staff.
  • Provides lobby / waiting room coordination and supervision
  • Anticipates and responds to meet customer needs.
  • Responsible for completing observation checklist as dictated by physician.
  • Assists in maintaining adequate dietary and linen supplies.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary activities such as staff meetings and other committees as assigned.
  • Assists in maintaining supply of office materials.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma is required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in direct patient care or customer service required.
  • Ability to work under conditions of potentially high stress and emergency situations required.
  • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision required.
  • Excellent problem solving skills required.
  • May in the course of their job duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients. Transportation of medication is limited from one department to another. No contact with medications is allowed. In the course of duties may be asked to distribute medications to the nurse at the bedside. Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
