Job Description/Summary/Objectives: University of Pittsburgh Physicians seeks an Neurorehabilitation Psychologist to specialize in understanding the relationship between the physical brain and behavior; evaluate and treat patients with various types of brain and central nervous system illnesses, injuries, and diseases that cause symptoms that affect the way a patient feels, thinks, and behaves, such as cerebrovascular accidents, neoplasms, infectious or inflammatory diseases, degenerative diseases, head traumas, demyelinating diseases, and various forms of dementing illnesses; conduct neuropsychological evaluations such as assessments of intelligence, academic ability, attention, concentration, sensorimotor function, language, learning, and memory, and prepare detailed clinical neuropsychological reports using the data gained from these evaluations; assist patients with cognitive issues, developmental disabilities, psychosocial problems, and other chronic physical and mental health conditions to cope with their disability in order to lead as normal a life as possible; daily consultation with the inpatient rehabilitation team and medical providers to address psychosocial, cognitive, and behavioral barriers, assist in plan of care for discharge readiness, family psychoeducation and counseling to address adjustment to disability, assist in program development for the hospital brain injury program, provide presentations/didactics as needed to hospital staff and community on various aspects of rehabilitation psychology and neuropsychology.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Specialize in understanding the relationship between the physical brain and behavior;

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications and Licensure/Certification:

  • Must have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. degree in Clinical Psychology;

  • Completion of one year of postdoctoral training in Neurorehabilitation Psychology;

  • Must have valid PA Psychologist license or eligibility for licensure.
