Our ultimate goal is to develop more effective treatments for depression that can be better targeted for specific individuals. To support that goal, the Mood and Individual Differences Lab uses careful clinical assessment, neuroimaging, and direct neuromodulation techniques to examine the causes and consequences of individual differences among adults who struggle with depression and anxiety.

This is a research position that requires providing research support in a laboratory conducting multi-dimensional studies of neural and social aspects of emotional information processing involved in adult anxiety and depression. This position provides F/T research assistance by interviewing participants, conducting clinical, functional MRI, and behavioral research protocols, managing data collected during assessments, and providing lab management assistance to the Principal Investigators and other study staff. 

This position is grant funded.

  • Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s) including recruitment, scheduling appointments, obtaining written consent forms, collecting data by conducting phone or face to face interviews for research project(s).
  • Collaborate with senior research personnel regarding recruitment, data collection, outcomes of interviews, reports according to the needs of the study.
Grant Funded Responsibilities: 
  • Administer phone screen interviews to healthy, anxious and depressed adults

  • Conduct clinical and neurobehavioral assessments with research subjects, including the collection of questionnaire interview, behavioral, and neuroimaging data 

  • Assistance in the collection, management, processing, and analysis of data from the research assessments, interviews, and questionnaires and in the management and delivery of related equipment.

  • Keep a flexible schedule to accommodate research subject schedules, including morning, evening and weekend availability.

  • Perform in accordance with system-wide policy, procedure, competencies, and behaviors.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in psychology, neuroscience, sociology or related research field.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
  • Familiarity with comptuers and common software packages required.
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to interact skillfully with clinical populations
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize among multiple tasks
  • Computer skills in data management, statistical analysis programs, or programming helpful but not required
  • Previous experience with fMRI or psychophysiological data collection or analysis
