As the Vice President, Finance for the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, you will be responsible for all fiscal operations including, but not limited to, accounting and financial reporting, budgeting, purchasing, accounts payable, payroll, registration, and billing and collection. The incumbent provides fiscal consultation, leadership and direction to clinical and administrative personnel within UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. This position reports directly to the UPMC Chief Financial Officer with matrix reporting to the President of the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. In addition, this position is responsible for financial management of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center’s academic and research activities (through the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine) and for employed physician activities (through the Medicine and Surgery Division of University of Pittsburgh Physicians). 


Responsibilities:

1. Under the strategic direction of the UPMC Chief Financial Officer and President of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, provide fiscal and administrative support to Senior Management in the development, design and implementation of programs and services essential to the missions and goals of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.

2. Supervise, direct and / or perform all accounting and internal and external financial reporting for UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.

3. Develop along with Senior Management, the annual operating and capital budgets for UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Clinical Operations, and UPMC Hillman Cancer Research Operations through the University of Pittsburgh.

4. Function as UPMC Hillman Cancer Center liaison for support services performed by UPMC Health System and the University of Pittsburgh, including purchasing, accounts payable, payroll, billing and collection.

5. Work closely with UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Compliance Officer and UPMC Legal to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements applicable to UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Develop internal policies and procedures in response to changes in laws and regulations. With the assistance of the UPMC Compliance Officer perform periodic focus audits of compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

6.Negotiate all significant contracts, leases and other legal agreements with vendors, outside agencies and third-party payors. For less material contracts, responsible for providing fiscal oversight of negotiation process, reviewing contract language and executing all agreements.

7. Attend Joint Finance Committee and multiple joint venture board meetings as UPMC Hillman Cancer Center fiscal representative. Assist President of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center with presentations to the Board on as needed basis.

8. Serve as fiscal representative to UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Executive Committee and assist in setting strategic direction of clinical, research and academic activities.

9. Oversee financial management of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center joint ventures and partnerships and maintain relationships with partner executive teams.

10. Other duties as assigned by the President of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Ability to maintain and enhance the financial health of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, while preserving its mission of clinical service, education, research excellence and community benefit.

11. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the oncology market and the service delivery and financing systems that are successful in a managed care environment. Ability to develop fiscally sound business plans for program expansion and new market opportunities.

12. Ability to work well with clinical, administrative and faculty personnel and function as reference source for relevant business and financial principles essential to effective program management. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communications skills necessary to represent in dealings with vendors, outside agencies, governmental bodies, third party payors and other internal UPMC constituencies.



Qualifications

  • Ten years progressive experience in finance with at least five years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Excellent communications, managerial, organizational and analytical skills as demonstrated by past experience.
