As a Security Officer you will provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and employees. You will also protect hospital assets and confidential information as well as provides valet service to patients.Responsibilities:

- Responds to inquiries for advice, assistance or service from patients, visitors and employees, prioritizing calls based upon urgency.
- Follows through with all calls, updating callers when possible to explain delays.
- Maintains confidentiality in all oral and written communication, ensuring that privileged information/records are appropriately transmitted/protected/noted to exclude the attention of those not directly involved, promptly reporting violations of confidentiality.
- Reports any situation or problem which could potentially adversely affect the moral, integrity/credibility of UPMC Susquehanna
- Ensures accessibility, operability and the presence of safety equipment throughout assigned work areas (exits, fire extinguishers, pull stations, etc.)
- Completes comprehensive patrols of assigned hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire and accidents, vandalism, theft, loitering and other crimes, identifying and reporting any hazards.
- Monitors the conduct of visitors on hospital premises.
- Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, as needed.
- Participates in investigations if necessary.
- Assists in the handling/restraining of unruly or violent individuals applying, approved restraint techniques
- Escorts patients, visitors and employees to parking lots and hospital buildings, as needed.
- Controls parking and traffic flow, enforcing parking regulations.
- Provides valet services to patients at Williamsport Regional Medical Center and Divine Providence Hospital.
- Provides support to the Emergency Department at Muncy Valley Hospital by stocking supplies, answering phones and assisting with CPR. Divine Providence Hospital officers will assist the Supply Chain/Central Supply department, as scheduled, selecting, delivering and processing supply requests.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Specialized safety/security training is preferred.
- Previous healthcare safety and security experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective security operations for the protection of the people, data, property of UPMC Susquehanna.
- Skilled at using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as strong listening skills.
- Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong (It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem); to see details at a distance and close range; apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 90 days of hire
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
- Act 235 with renewal
