UPMC Health Plan Core Systems is seeking a Full-Stack .NET developer to design, develop, and enhance various application(s) (from scratch or an existing) to support the UPMC Health Plan business. This resource will be responsible for increasing the department technical capability to be able to address growing business needs in the areas of Enrollment, Claims including Pricing, Account Payable, and Premium Billing. They will also provide technical expertise in ongoing Projects as well as Refactoring Initiations. 

Under the direction of management and more senior members of the team, the Software Engineer - Intermediate will contribute to the overall Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) by independently completing assigned projects and tasks by meeting established quality measures. The focus of this position will be to reach a competent level of the technology stack and show the ability to master portions of it.

  • Typically has 2+ years of related work experience.
  • Proven experience in .NET, C# and Microsoft server-side technologies 
  • In-depth experience with AngularJS version 2-7, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, bootstrap 
  • Capable of designing and consuming REST APIs 
  • Strong experience with SQL Server and T-SQL 
  • Experience with source control systems such as TFS/VSTS (Azure DevOps), SVN or Git 
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum and Waterfall development methodology 
  • Strong ability to partner with cross-functional teams to deliver project goals 
  • Ability to design, optimize and refactor the code for improved performance 
  • Experience creating automated unit tests 
  • Deep understanding of the object-oriented concepts, design patterns, clean coding, code review practices 
  • Ability to deliver software that meets requirements within the timeline focusing on quality 
  • Experience working in Project-based environment and follow the SDLC process 
  • Experience with complex development environments, taking abstract concepts and ideas and formulating a detailed software deliverable 
  • Experience in developing on cross-functional systems
  • Deep knowledge of programming
  • Highly driven and self-motivated to exceed expectations 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team based environment 
  • Proficient in both oral and written communication
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Oracle and PL/SQL
  • Knowledge of .NET Core, Entity Framework Core
  • ASP.NET WebAPI experience
  • Microsoft Azure, AWS or related cloud experience
  • Experience in Node.JS
  • Prior Healthcare domain experience
