Description
Responsible for creating and overseeing programs to positively influence the costs of the UPMC fleet vehicles. Will involve coordination of the maintenance programs, repairs and ensuring an effective cost per mile (CPM) of all UPMC fleet vehicles. This includes buses, cargo vans, mini vans, cars, trucks and snow removal vehicles. Also, will take the lead in standardizing vehicles, in preparation for a system-wide sourcing agreement.Responsibilities:
- Communicates continuous improvement and value across the organization.
- Assist in managing financial performance.
- Drive performance of fleet operations goals.
- Create cost per mile (CPM) benchmark for fleet vehicles by working with external partners to establish.
- Understand and track total cost of ownership (TCO) to determine what vehicles are performing as expected and which are not.
- Support timely and accurate reporting on budgetary performance.
- Provide operational support for day to day management, customer interface, and required reporting and internal compliance for up to 1,000 vehicles through a group of about 20 maintenance coordinators.
- Monitors and communicates schedule for preventative maintenance.
- Help with insourcing routine maintenance and basic repairs of Pittsburgh-based fleet vehicles.
- Functions in a leadership role to accomplish goals and objectives for multiple business units.
- Establish fleet goals for CPM, vehicle turnover and reallocation of high mileage vehicles into other areas in the system in order to avoid capital expenditures.
Qualifications
- A minimum of five (5) years of fleet management and five (5) years logistics management
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Experience in creating and establishing fleet policies and procedures, from replacement cycling to accident reporting.
- May need to edit or update existing policy, or create new one.
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- Skill in organization, time management, prioritization, and attention to detail.
- Proven experience managing a large organization.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills required.
- Demonstrable problem solving and analytical skills required.
- Understands vehicular specifications and fleet planning.
- Strong communicative, decision making and interpersonal skills are necessary
