Medical Director for Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care in Tampa, FL!

St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, in conjunction with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, is seeking an experienced Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist to be the Medical Director of our Cardiac Intensive Care Unit in Tampa, Florida.

About St. Joseph's CICU:
The St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital CICU is a 12-bed unit which provides care for both children and adults with congenital heart disease. The CICU utilizes an admission to discharge model to ensure seamless transition in care as patient’s recover from critical illness. The pediatric cardiac surgical program performs over 250 cases/year (150 cases utilizing cardiopulmonary bypass) and works in partnership with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, under the leadership of Dr. Victor Morell who is internationally recognized for his expertise. Position Responsibilities:
• Clinical time in the CICU
• Education of APP team members and nursing staff
• Participation in the development and implementation of care protocols
• Participation in the development and implementation of QI initiatives

For interested faculty members, there are opportunities to participate in clinical research with partners at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Prospective candidates will be hired as faculty through the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and will have an academic appointment commensurate with their level of experience. About St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital:
St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital is a full service, tertiary children’s hospital with over 200 dedicated pediatric beds, including a 16 bed PICU, 12 bed Cardiac ICU, 21 bed pediatric emergency department, a dedicated pediatric transport service, and an affiliated Women’s Hospital with a level IV 64 bed NICU. As part of the BayCare Health System, there is a statewide pediatric network providing care for over 52,000 children a year. Our network consists of 14 hospitals across the region and several extremely successful pediatric subspecialty programs including outreach clinics.

Qualifications

  • Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Critical Care Medicine or Pediatric Cardiology 
  • Additional fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care and/or dual boarded in CCM and Cardiology
