Description

Purpose:
Perform all aspects of clinical medical dosimetry. 

Responsibilities:
  • Use radiographic, CT and MRI images to delineate tumor volumes and the other critical anatomical structures.
  • Manage the development of treatment plans, acquisition and storage of data for treatment plans, calculation of dose distributions and machine settings for treatment delivery.
  • Assist in patient set up and immobilization for radiotherapy simulation.
  • Keep current on the new treatment planning techniques, devices, and methods.
  • Provide consultation to the Radiation Oncologist on the development of optimal treatment plans. Translate the desired treatment plan into a set of instructions for radiation therapist to execute.
  • Participate, when needed, in clinical research for the development and implementation of new techniques.
  • Obtain and disseminate information pertaining to current practices within the field of medical dosimetry.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in sciences or equivalent experience and training in radiation therapy
  • Formal training in Medical Terminology/Anatomy/Tumor Biology/Radiation Graduate from a recognized Medical Dosimetrist Training Program or equivalent clinical training
  • Experience with conformal radiotherapy, 3-D treatment planning, and IMRT required, SRS/SBRT experience desirable.
  • Two (2) years working as a Medical Dosimetrist preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Certified Dosimetrist
