Description
The Urgent Care Assistant assists Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers in providing high quality medical care efficiently with a focus on service. Plays a key role in personalizing patients? visits and providing an extraordinary patient experience.
Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- The Urgent Care Assistant as an empowered team member must be optimistic, enthusiastic, and able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
- Must work collaboratively with all members of the Patient Care Team and interacts with patient in a friendly, courteous manner.
- Treats each individual with respect and dignity and uses standards of patient satisfaction as a measure of effectiveness.
- The Urgent Care Assistant must promote a professional image with behavior, performance and appearance.
- Maintains skills to assist in an emergency situation.
- Completes unit specific educational requirements.
- Performs duties in accordance with Employee Standards of Conduct.
- Application of pre-fabricated durable medical equipment.
- Administers nebulizer treatments.
- Administers medications and vaccines.
- Performs urine drug and breath alcohol testing.
- Performs medical testing, including but not limited to EKG, audiometry screening, and spirometry.
- Basic laboratory point-of-care testing, including phlebotomy
- Cleans and dresses wounds.
- Assists with procedures, including the set-up of procedure trays.
- Triages patient, including obtaining vital signs and medical history.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent, language and writing skills essential to meet job requirements.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program, Certified Nursing Assistant program, EMT or Paramedic training or experience as an Emergency Department Technician.
- A desire to serve others and be part of a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Willingness to develop problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and the willingness to continue to develop those skills.
- Ability and willingness to expand clinical knowledge.
- Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 90 days
