Research Assistant III

Description

Purpose: Perform research related functions in support of NIH-funded adolescent sleep research studies. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assists study staff in providing coverage for adolescent participants during their overnight stays in the Sleep and Behavioral Neuroscience Center (SBNC) laboratory.

  • Interacts with protocol participants, ensuring their comfort, safety and needs throughout the conduct of a study.  Provides protocol participants with instructions on research procedures and the proper use of equipment.

  • Escorts participants to other sites (such as the Magnetic Resonance Research Center) as needed to fulfill the requirements of a protocol.

  • Assists participants during mealtimes on shift.

  • Assists with study procedures as specified by the protocol design which may include (but is not limited to) monitoring of various data acquisition devices, administration of forms and paper/pencil and computer assessments, collection labeling and storage of biological samples (e.g., urine, saliva) and accurately obtaining vital signs from participants and patients.

  • Assists with data projects as needed. 

  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This position is grant funded.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required. Some college preferred.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
  • Knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
  • Prior research experience preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
