Research Associate | Cognitive-Affective Neuroscience and Development (CAND) Laboratory

Description

Purpose:

The position is within the Cognitive-Affective Neuroscience and Development (CAND) Laboratory directed by Dr. Cecile Ladouceur. The CAND lab focuses on investigating the neurodevelopment of emotion processing and regulation in adolescents diagnosed with and at risk of anxiety and mood disorders. The current position is part of a project designed to examine the neural mechanisms of worry regulation in adolescents and young adults varying in levels of anxiety.


Responsibilities: 

  • Screen participants using phone and in-person measures.
  • Schedule participants’ assessments at appropriate time intervals. 
  • Administer research protocol including brief interview, computer tasks, fMRI scan, and self-report measures.
  • Provide support to data management staff – e.g., storing of data, data entry, data cleaning and data integrity checks.
  • Assist Investigators and Post Docs with administrative tasks and some data analysis for papers/presentations by performing some aspects as needed.
  • Participate in participant recruitment (posting ads in schools/hospitals/stores, newspapers, completing mailings).
  • Perform other duties as assigned and in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
This position is grant funded.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required preferably in psychology or related field.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
  • Prior related work experience in a research setting preferred.
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of experience working in mental health environment (clinical or research)
  • Experience working with adolescents 
  • Experience administering and scoring standard research assessments (e.g., K-SADS-PL, ALIFE, SCID, CGI, FH-RDC) is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in basic computer software packages, including MS Word and email 
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain flexible schedule and access to transportation to travel to participants' home 

 

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

·  Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

·  Act 33 with renewal

·  Act 34 with renewal

·  Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
