Systems Analyst - Intermediate- Quality Assurance

Description

Under the general direction of the Quality Audit Technical Team, this intermediate level position provides experienced analytical and/or programming capabilities, defining requirements, developing and/or maintaining computer applications/databases/queries, and providing services to meet client IT and business needs.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide service to Quality Audit & Operational Integrity (QA) clients while protecting the integrity and confidentiality of all data and information through physical and electronic measures.
  • Evaluate data requests and identify the appropriate data sources to query data timely and accurately.
  • Assist with the design and documentation of system functional requirements in formats to facilitate the development of deliverables such as Request for new projects, tools, databases, samples and reports.
  • Work with QA staff, clients and/or vendors to evaluate, develop, and implement solutions including streamlining business and operational processes and the development applications.
  • Assure quality of information through business case and application level testing; validate test results to initial business needs.
  • Work with QA staff, clients and/or vendor staff to deploy production applications.
  • Business Requirements and Process Analysis - Develops instruction videos to facilitate cross-training and on-boarding.  Makes suggestions for problem solutions or business process enhancements; partners with business process experts to learn and understand problems with software.  Conducts business requirements reviews and independently formulates logical statements of business requirements.  Participates in joint application development sessions.

    Scheduled Task Completion – Complete scheduled tasks (data sampling and reporting) timely and accurately.

    Ad-Hoc Task Completion – Complete requests ad-hoc tasks (data sampling and reporting) timely and accurately.

    Project Management - Works with project manager to define tasks and create teamwork plans with moderate supervision.  Identifies issues affecting work progress and recommends solutions.  Communicates schedule variances and potential scope changes during status sessions.  

  • Operations/System Analysis - Independently evaluates and documents operational performance, diagnoses issues/incidents, completes service requests/problem resolution for moderately complex to complex business systems or processes.  Research and gather data/information, analyze information and propose alternative solutions.

  • Scheduled Task Completion – Complete scheduled tasks (data sampling and reporting) timely and accurately.

    Ad-Hoc Task Completion – Complete requests ad-hoc tasks (data sampling and reporting) timely and accurately.

  • Project Management - Works with project manager to define tasks and create teamwork plans with moderate supervision.  Identifies issues affecting work progress and recommends solutions.  Communicates schedule variances and potential scope changes during status sessions. 

  • Preforms in accordance with system-wide competence/behaviors.
  • Preforms other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Typically has two or more years experience with modern technology and application support through education or practical experience. 
  • Highly driven and self-motivated to meet expectations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team based environment.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of information technology fundamental tools and concepts (SDLC) of one of the information technology professional disciplines and applies that understanding to make independent practical contributions to IT work within a UPMC department or function.
  • Completes on-going training on-the-job, through courses, self-study, certifications and/or advanced degrees to maintain and enhance technical and business capabilities. 
  • Additionally, this position may be required to maintain a stand by status as part of a rotation within the team. This requires 24 hours per day, 7 days per week availability during the stand by period. 
  • The frequency varies based upon the number of colleagues in the rotation.
  • Completes on-going training on-the-job, through courses, self-study, certifications and/or advanced degrees to maintain and enhance technical and business capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to: write SQL queries to pull information from varied data sources; maintain MS Access databases; and convert MS access queries to SQL.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of the fundamental tools and concepts of one of the information technology professional disciplines (i.e., Applications, Business Analysis, Customer Service, Data, Networking, Operations, Security, Systems Engineering, etc.) and applies that understanding to make independent practical contributions to IT work within a particular UPMC department or function.
  • Must meet IT Career Level Criteria for Individual/Team Contributors outlined in the Universal Criteria Leveling Guide
