Description

The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and the Department of Pediatrics, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is recruiting a Clinical Director on the non-tenure physician track. The Clinical Director is a key leader within the Division, assisting the Chief of Endocrinology in coordinating the broad range of clinical activities at multiple sites, and at various sub-specialty clinics including CAH, gender concerns, late endocrine effects of cancer treatment, lipid, bone disorders, and others. The Clinical Director will work closely with the Directors of the Fellowship program and Diabetes Program, and will also lead efforts in hiring, establishing and expanding the practice at new locations including Harrisburg and Washington PA. Candidates for this position should have prior leadership experience, and an interest in serving in a physician leadership role. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, innovative and positive in approach, and will utilize these attributes and more to expand, improve and streamline the clinical operations of the Division. The candidate must have completed a Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship program, be Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatric Endocrinology, and currently be at the Associate Professor or Professor level at a peer academic institution.

The Pediatric Endocrinology Division has a multi-decade tradition of excellence and a robust ambulatory practice, being the major referral site for western Pennsylvania, Northeastern Ohio and northern West Virginia. The staff includes 19 physicians and 12 advanced practice providers. This program also includes 9 diabetes educators, 4 dieticians, 2 social workers, a clinical psychologist and 6 endocrine nurses. The Pediatric Endocrinology Division has a busy inpatient and consult service and an active Fellowship program (currently with 3 Fellows per year). The Division operates many satellites and outreach services.
Both the Division of Endocrinology and UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh have been consistently ranked in the Top 10 Honor Roll on U.S. News & World report’s list of “American’s Best Children’s Hospitals” for many years, including the current 2020-21 year. UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh is a 315-bed free-standing children’s hospital located in the thriving Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh cares for over 80% of all hospitalized children (and over 90% of all hospitalized children under the age of 12) in our region, a catchment area that includes Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, Northern West Virginia, and Southwestern New York.
