Description

UPMC Susquehanna Lock Haven is looking for a Dietary Technician to provide dietary consultation under the direction of the Dietitian.  This is a part-time position with flexible daylight hours from Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct timely patient visits, accurately assessing nutrition risk levels per department criteria. Effectively communicate assigned nutrition risk to the appropriate clinical staff.
  • Assist with the education, mentoring, and training of dietetic students/interns and new employees.
  • Provide basic nutrition education as assigned.
  • Plan or edit menus and nourishments with patients to meet individual nutrition care needs in accordance with diet order, patient preferences, and allergies/intolerances.
  • Provide ongoing nutritional care to assigned patients and appropriately evaluate outcomes including changes in nutrition risk status.
  • Participate in performance improvements for quality care and patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • An associate's degree in nutrition or a related area is required.  A Bachelor's degree in nutrition is preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical skills are required in order to assess, evaluate and plan diets.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families and other healthcare professionals and to provide basic nutrition instruction are required.
  • Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration is preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration or registry eligible preferred.
