Description

The Data Center Facilities Management is seeking a Systems Engineer, Associate, who under the direction of management and more senior members of the team, maintains systems, participate in projects, provides end user support, and contributes to team documentation and process improvement. This role will have a primary location at our Northpointe Data Center which is 35 miles from Oakland outside of Freeport PA just off Rt 28 North, this person will also  rotate in at least one week per month to our Oakland Forbes Tower Data Center. This person will also support the Hospital Based Data Centers for UPMC’s Eastern Hospitals which will require some travel, some local, occasional overnight. Flexible schedule and reliable transportation is required as a part of this role. 

Responsibilities:
  • Core technology concepts - Responsible for showing a basic understanding of designated technologies and their use. Demonstrates the initiative to learn internal processes and procedures.
  • Project Management - Complete basic project-related tasks and tasks delegated by more senior members of the team. Responsible for time tracking and updating documentation.
  • Maintenance/Upgrades - Follow documented procedures for maintenance and upgrades. Responsible for assisting with Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • End user support - Complete basic documented tasks related to end user support.
  • Communication - Responsible for demonstrating appropriate, clear, concise, and effective written and oral communications in all interactions to build relationships and accomplish day to day work and projects.
  • Troubleshooting/Critical Thinking - Ability to resolve basic issues or offer input on issue resolution.
  • Self Development - Responsible for continuous self-study, trainings, partnering with more senior members of team, and/or seeking out opportunities to broaden scope to stay up to date with industry and organizational trends. Seeks feedback from senior team members for development and effectively incorporates feedback into work and behaviors.
  • Interactions with Others - Successfully completes projects, tasks, and initiatives by embracing a team-first approach. Works in collaboration with team and offers feedback, where appropriate, to complete individual and group efforts. Shows the ability to adjust and be flexible to change by adapting approach when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Typically has familiarity with complex systems environments through education or practical experience.
  • Ability to perform basic/standard IT procedures and protocols. 
  • Reliable means of transportation between sites.
  • This position may be required to maintain a 24/7 off hours support as part of a rotation within the team. 
    • The frequency varies based upon the number of colleagues in the rotation.
