Description

UPMC Health Plan has an exciting opportunity for an insurance operations position Manager, Print and Fulfillment in its Print and Fulfillment department, flexibly located in downtown Pittsburgh at the U.S. Steel Tower.

Reporting to the Director of Print and Fulfillment, the Manager provides internal direction, leadership, and accountability for print and fulfillment efforts, coordinating among operations and stakeholders across the system. The Manager shall work to define measurable objectives, align insurance operations affiliated with print and fulfillment, support operations process to digital conversion, create new standards document standards, track financial spend, enhance vendor relations, support new communication technology implementations, and define operational efficiencies to be implemented throughout the business.


This position is based in insurance operations, not print house operations. Individuals with healthcare insurance operations experience are preferred.


Responsibilities:

Communication:

  • Communicate effectively and regularly with coworkers, direct reports, managers, department leadership, print and fulfillment stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions enhancing organizational effectiveness.

Print and Fulfillment:

  • Work closely with Operations and Marketing to ensure that fulfillment programs and initiatives are a key part of UPMC business operations and supported with appropriate tools, resources, and technology.
  • Work closely with Department management to provide financial oversight for a multi-million dollar print and fulfillment budget, creating reports, and tracking spend for leadership review.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and present information concerning factors such as operational spend, business situations, production capabilities, vendor performance targets, service level agreements, and design and development of system processes while providing recommendations concerning a course of action when appropriate. May develop and maintain detailed project plans utilizing standard project documentation and methodology and project tracking and reporting procedures.
  • Assist team members in resolving project problems, delegates appropriately, escalates issues when necessary, and facilities decision-making.
  • Assist with achieving Print and Fulfillment strategic goals as well as the Insurance Services Division and system strategic goals.
  • Develop cross-functional, change management and implementation strategies; ensure that all of the participating parties have committed to effective implementation of the processes and procedures as related to Print and Fulfillment operations.
  • Ensure UPMC Health Plan, Workpartners, and Community Care Behavioral Health are preparing AdHoc and print files and print projects that meet vendor and customer needs resulting in a cost-effective production and turnaround providing recommendations to business stakeholders to adjust processes to achieve these results.
  • Keep abreast of pertinent print and fulfillment or other job-related technology and related updates or advancements to effectively perform job. Examples of technology include: Centra, Maestro, Commerce, Inspire.
  • Manage multiple vendors and work across multiple department disciplines.

Professional Growth:

  • Identify areas of interest/professional growth and discusses with manager.

Standard Responsibilities:

  • Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, statistics, health care, management, or related business field required.
  • Master's degree preferred. (Four+ years' experience will be considered).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related work experience.
  • Experience in health care insurance or health care industry preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills required, including Access, Excel, Microsoft Project, and other pertinent computer software packages.
  • Strong management, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written) are required.
  • Excellent Project Management skills along with effective planning, financial literacy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform planning for large initiatives/projects, directly managing or delegating all tasks required to provide services to meet client and business needs within budget and targeted deadlines.
