Description

Purpose:
The Manager, Diversity Projects and Workforce Development provides day-to-day management of workforce development efforts geared toward increasing underrepresented populations within our workforce and diversity projects to advance accountability, visibility, and outcomes. This position is responsible for ensuring we are a strategic partner to the communities we serve and to UPMC through representing the Center for Engagement and Inclusion on project teams and in the community. This position involves developing and executing strategies aligning to business needs that are rooted in customer/candidate/employee/community experience and collaboration with team members and external partners on project initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Represent the Center for Engagement and Inclusion on project teams. Provide overall diversity and inclusion guidance and expertise. Conducts research to respond to business unit or community needs and provides relevant facts to recommend solutions.
  • Creates products that demonstrate leadership and commitment to diversity and inclusion. Develops and maintain documents and materials to support effective roll out of projects and initiatives. Conducts presentations and learning forums to various audiences.
  • Partner with team members to provide project management and subject expertise on diversity and inclusion initiatives. Leads a variety of projects to increase diversity and inclusion accountability, visibility, and outcomes including refinement of materials.
  • Collaboratively develops and plans success matters with various internal and external stakeholders through demographic analytics.
  • Supervise team responsible for day to day execution of activities while leading various project teams.
  • In partnership with internal and external stakeholders develop pipelines for various positions. Ensure consistent, on-going support and outreach to identified candidates. Facilitate accuracy in workforce development data reporting to external partners and UPMC customers (statistics, annual report, hiring information, etc.).
  • Provides leadership within UPMC and the community to address diversity, inclusion, employee engagement, and community engagement goals and metrics. Proactively works to address potential barriers to employment for underrepresented populations. Develop, engage, and coach individuals in preparation for job placement at UPMC.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a closely related field is required. 
  • Five years of related experience is required, including at least three years of program management/project management, strategy development, and communications experience. 
  • Master's degree is preferred. 
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time management skills with proven ability to take initiative and work independently while also providing support to multiple stakeholders is required. 
  • Innovative and flexible approach to problem solving with a focus on continuous improvement and best practices with the ability to influence and promote new ideas required. 
  • Proven ability to build strategic alliances and familiarity with non-profit organizations, community groups, and workforce development initiatives. 
  • Experience working effectively with diverse populations is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, project management, responsiveness, analytical and problem-solving skills required. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams across functions. 
  • Persuasive communicator with high proficiency in standard MS applications is required.
