We have an exciting opportunity for a Director, Corporate Real Estate to join our leadership team at UPMC Pinnacle Hospitals. As Director, Corporate Real Estate, you will be responsible to ensure that all outside properties (leased and owned) are being maintained. Additional responsibilities include lease review and negotiation.   • Complete evaluations on staff within the Corporate Real Estate Department.
  • Active participation in professional organizations. In conjunction with legal services of UPMC, negotiates contracts with outside vendors of services utilized by UPMC. In conjunction with legal services of UPMC, negotiates leases and/or sales agreements with outside entities. Serves on the appropriate committees throughout the system and provides leadership and direction to those memberships. Serves as a leader or member of special projects as assigned by the Vice President of Facilities & Support Services. Promotes UPMC Pinnacle Hospitals through and with community groups and events.
  • Accountable for the overall budgetary performance of assigned areas. Oversees the annual preparation of the operating and capital budgets for assigned areas and makes recommendations to the Vice President of Facilities & Support Services. Responsible for the development of new, additional sources of revenue and to improve efficiency for existing revenue sources. Ensures that departments within assigned areas of responsibility operate within their expense budgets and meets or exceed revenue budgets. Promotes continuous operational improvement of increase quality and decrease cost.
  • Transmits, interprets, and implements objectives, policies, rules and regulations and monitors compliance with the same. Delegate's authorization to departmental managers and others commensurate to carry out performance expectations. Encourages participative management in a system whereby decisions are made at the appropriate organizational level. Establishes and uses evaluation systems for the financial and quality assessment aspects of all operations and regularly reports evaluation results to the Vice President of Facilities & Support Services. Participates in the development, application, and implementation of policies and procedures that support the efficient operations of the Hospital.
  • Management of interior and exterior signage required for all UPMC Pinnacle Hospitals and for offsite locations. Coordinates activities and establishes lines of communication between administration and line employees with various staff departments.
  • Routine asset moving and department relocations. Management of bi-weekly asset relocations coordinating with vendor and departments. Coordination of all facility relocations.
  • Management of offsite storage functions.
  • Monthly invoice review.
  • Management of file destruction.
  • Maintain Department authorizations
  • Management of all leased and owned properties by the UPMC Pinnacle Hospitals. Possible site identification. Lease negotiation. Lease management, which includes increases, renewals, etc. Invoice and rental income management. Management of tenant complaints and needs.
  • Responsible for the achievement of program objectives for those areas assigned including fiscal, quality, and service objectives. Develops annual plans whereby each subordinate is accountable for developing short and long-range plans for approval and implementation. Monitors progress toward achievement of objectives within acceptable costs and reports results routinely to the Vice President of Facilities & Support Services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.


  • BA required 
  • 10 years experience in hospital building operations or commercial real estate
  • Effective written and verbal skills
  • A high degree of initiative, independent action and interpersonal skills
  • Financial planning and expense management skills
  • Preferred: 5 years experience in hospital construction project management

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 90 days

  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
