UPMC St. Margaret is seeking dedicated individuals to join their Food Service team. Various positions available. See below for descriptions of each position.- Adheres to hand hygiene and infection control procedures on a consistent basis when interacting with customers.
- Adheres to department procedures regarding the operation of all food service equipment.
- Communicates customer complaints and concerns effectively with other health care team members.
- Performs sanitation for assigned work area in accordance with departmental procedures and health department guidelines.
- Serves patient meal tray using the designated department script, to include proper patient identification.
- Distributes and collects menus from patients; obtains selected menus from patients according to departmental procedures.
- Displays customer service skills when responding to meal service requests, resulting in a satisfied customer.
- Serves meals within established timeframes, adhering to departmental standards for appearance, food quality, and temperature control.
Food Service Attendant (kitchen)- This position will assist on the tray line preparing meal trays for the patients. The Food Service Attendant performs stocking and cleaning duties in the kitchen as well as deliver items, when ordered, to the patients. Food service experience is preferred, but not required.
- Assures the necessary food and service equipment / utensils are secured for assigned area prior to meal service.
- Adheres to department procedures regarding the operation of all food service equipment.
- May also perform the following job responsibilities based on Facility/Department requirements: Inventories and stocks bulk supplies, following established procedures and designated timeframes. Patient Service Specific Responsibility: Serves patient meal tray using the designated department script, to include proper patient identification. Bus tables and sanitize tables and chairs. Deliver meals to residents' rooms when requested. Set tables for the following meal according to the Food Service Guidelines Manual.
- Assembles and serves meals according to diet orders, menus and patient / guest specific requirements.
- Maintains food safety and quality as mandated by PA Department of Health/Allegheny County Health Department/PA Department of Welfare (where applicable)
- Adheres to hand hygiene and infection control procedures on a consistent basis when interacting with customers.
- Performs sanitation for assigned work area in accordance with departmental procedures and health department guidelines.
- Collects money from cash customers and returns change accurately in accordance with established cash handling procedures
- Sets up cashier's station at beginning of shift and maintains funds appropriately throughout shift
- Records miscellaneous non-monetary purchases accurately
- Ensures food products are charged accurately by consistently checking the portion sizes and verify contents according to department procedure. Notifies supervisor/manager of any portion discrepancies immediately
- Maintains work areas in clean and orderly condition according to HACCP guidelines.
Qualifications
*Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title & salary based on their experience and education.- HS Diploma/GED OR 1 YR previous job experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED
- Customer service experience preferred.
- High School Diploma/GED, OR Currently enrolled in high school program, OR1 year previous job experience required in lieu of High school diploma/GED. Work permit required if under 18 years old.
- HS Diploma/GED OR 1 YR previous job experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED Must possess ability to accurately count and perform basic mathematical functions
