Description
The responsibility of a Maintenance Tech I at UPMC is to perform a variety of routine corrective action, preventive maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment to insure optimum working conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Performs routine mechanical, electrical and plumbing repairs.
- Makes out daily work requests to cover items not completed during normal rounds.
- Follows up on these work requests to insure that appropriate service is provided to the requesting personnel.
- Makes out daily productive tickets or log with all information and materials used on each work assignment.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the field and actively partakes in related training and educational programs.
- Demonstrates Hamot's commitment to service excellence by understanding the needs of patients, their families, physicians and co-workers and doing what is required the first time, every time by being responsible, sensitive, accurate, timely, coordinated and thorough
- Makes assigned rounds performing work and initiating repairs as requested or required.
- Performs routine maintenance in assigned areas.
- Performs work as requested and/or evaluates work requests to determine the best possible solution or disposition.
- Contacts appropriate Facilities Engineering personnel to assist in the completion of lengthy or complex solutions to problems.
- Responsible for the care and maintenance of assigned Hamot tools and equipment. Performs preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and records all repairs and work done on equipment.
- Interacts with other department personnel, public and patients to insure optimum working conditions.
- Maintains effective communications with Facilities Engineering, contractors, vendors and others.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent and two years of vocational training in a related field.
- Three years of prior experience in a similar position; two additional years of prior similar experience may be considered in lieu of the formal training.
- Must be able to read blueprints.
- Must be able to demonstrate proper safety procedures throughout the medical center.
- May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored.
- No contact with medications is allowed.
- This position typically reports to Supervisor, Carpentry/Mechanical Services.
