Description
Purpose:
Coordinates patient placement and flow for all inpatient campuses to guarantee the most appropriate and timely placement based upon admission criteria. The Supervisor provides clinical guidance to departmental personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Must maintain a professional attitude and demeanor and communicate effectively and easily with all members of the Patient Care Team. Must be self-directed and a self starter. Must be able to work projects through from idea to implementation and evaluation. Demonstrates visionary and creative thinking ability.
- Performs duties in accordance with the Employee Standards of Conduct.
- Completes unit-specific educational requirements as well as system-related fire, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to remove barriers to patient flow.
- Communicates with appropriate stakeholders about concerns with high occupancy.
- Negotiates alternative bed assignments with requesting provider when requested bed is not available.
- Prioritizes admissions and transfers.
- Works in collaboration with patient registration, environmental services, physicians, nursing, emergency department staff, and case managers to identify bed availability.
- Facilitates processes on a daily basis to expedite patient movement between departments to maximize capacity.
Qualifications
- Current active Pennsylvania RN license.
- Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum five years of experience in acute care nursing in a hospital setting with leadership experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire.
- Sound critical thinking skills. Good communication skills.
- Good customer service skills.
- Ability to plan and organize time and resources efficiently.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:Supervisory or leadership experience. Emergency department or critical care clinical experience. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 90 days
