Responsible for the direction and coordination of PSD clinical support services to include planning, directing, organizing, controlling and evaluating the implementation of strategic plans that will ensure a functionally sound operations structure and continued division viability. Exercises major strategic control over areas of responsibility including short term and long term fiscal viability in addition to formulating and administering department policies.

  • Direct contract administration team with database management to enhance timeliness for all MD Contract. Establish criteria and processes for database management to provide accuracy; work with analysts to ensure reconciliations are timely and accurate.
  • Strategize with PSD Senior Administration and CMI Administrators for utilization of facilities to establish greater competitive advantage in target areas.
  • Cultivate the Strategic Direction of the Facilities to enhance UPMC market presence in Western Pennsylvania.
  • Forge relationships with Non UPMC Community Hospitals Presidents to understand and support their Strategic vision via recruitment, acquisition and operations.
  • Develop budget for new and existing construction and work with PSD Finance to ensure approval.
  • Cultivate relationships with Physicians, develop compensation models, negotiate and construct appropriate contract terms with physicians for acquisition.
  • Oversee Transition team's integration of acquired practice's into UPMC; establish routine meetings with various PSD departments to ensure smooth transition to UPMC.
  • Manage time share facilities and clinics in East and North; Work with PSD Senior Leadership and UPP Administrators to develop timeshares as an asset to community.
  • Lead and Direct the PSD Facilities Management team related to strategy, implementation, construction and utilization of all PSD facilities.
  • Establish Acquisition strategy with PSD Leadership for Primary Care and Specialty practices in collaboration with UPMC Hospitals to enhance market presence in Hospital service area.


  • Masters degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or related field is required.  
  • Minimum 5-10 years experience in senior level management position in physician practice management, academic medical center, hospital, or other healthcare environment.  
  • Requires advanced knowledge of finance; human resources; facilities management; physician billing; applicable federal, state and local laws; as they pertain to physician management. 
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to oversee individuals with diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and written communication skills.  
  • Ability to work with physicians, management and staff personnel efficiently and effectively in a professional manner.  
  • Must be able to work independently, be flexible, perform in high stress situations and produce under pressure.
