Description
Purpose:Assist the Facilities Planning Director with tasks pertaining to capital space and construction project requests for the UPMC hospital campuses, as well as other corporate initiatives and supporting documentation. Travel to various UPMC locations is required.
Responsibilities:
- Assess current facilities and field verifies floor plans with accurate documentation of configuration and room information (Name, Number, Department, etc.)
- Maintain a working knowledge of the existing facilities and the utilization of space within each building.
- Develop and document conceptual projects from inception through capital approval and works with construction team to develop budgets, schedules, and approvals.
- Independently perform special projects as assigned.
- Develop a written Scope of Work documents, Programs, Plans, Room Data Sheets to meet the user group needs to understand the project as well as provide a strong understanding of the project for estimating the Conceptual Design.
- Presents projects and performance.
- Collaborate and support the Planning Director to develop feasibility studies and alternate design solutions.
- Update AutoCAD background drawings for hospitals and other campus buildings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or an equivalent combination of experience and education is required.
- Four years of design experience with at least two years of planning experience in Hospital and Healthcare facilities.
- Comprehensive understanding of rules and regulations for Hospital design requirements including (The Guidelines for the Design and Construction of Healthcare Facilities, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, and local/state building codes.)
- Proficient user of AutoCAD 2017 with the ability to create and maintain drawing standards of graphics, annotation, and drafting protocols.
- Presentation skills including graphics software and Microsoft Office and PowerPoint proficiency.
- Must be detail oriented with excellent communications, interpersonal and customer relations skills, both written and oral.
- Maintain effective working relationship with all associates.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with accountability for work performed.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Must be proactive, results oriented with the ability to multi-task.
- Candidate must have a positive attitude, be quality minded, and hold a degree of creativity and independence.
- Willingness to travel to UPMC Facilities throughout Pennsylvania.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Licensed Architect preferred
