Description
The Journeyman/Electrician maintains, repairs, and installs electrical equipment in the facilities, as directed. Hours for this position will be day shift, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with rotational weekend, holiday and on-call shifts! Responsibilities:
- Perform all work following infection control procedures.
- Accountable for the safe operation and maintenance of the hospital's electrical systems and equipment including generators, fire alarm, overhead paging system and nurse call.
- Record personal work orders and submit hours to supervisor in a daily basis.
- Install new wiring and electrical machinery.
- Isolate and repair/replace defective wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment.
- Inspect and test lighting, signal communication, control and power circuits and equipment.
- Repair and/or install conduit, fittings, motors, generators transformers, electrical wiring and a variety of appliances and hospital equipment.
- Maintain clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.
- Operate and maintain switchgear and electrical machinery.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of trade school program which includes such items as blueprint reading, electricity, machine shop work, mathematics and physics.
- Must have three to four years of hospital or commercial work experience.
- Knowledge of City, State and Federal codes is required.
- May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored.
- No contact with medications is allowed.
