Research Specialist

Description

Purpose:

The Research Specialist will be participating in a number of clinical research activities, including performing high-density (hd)-EEG as well as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) with simultaneous hd-EEG, Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS), and interleaved functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) with Theta Burst Stimulation (TBS) in healthy and psychiatric populations. These studies are part of NIMH-funded grants investigating the neural mechanisms and circuits underlying cognitive deficits in individuals at risk for or recently diagnosed with psychotic disorders as well as aimed at revealing the neural circuitry predisposing to hypo/mania in bipolar disorder patients. With this position, you will be asked to assist in the execution of research protocols and services. To accommodate the needs of our participants, this position requires flexibility to work variable hours, including during the daytime, evening and/or weekend. 

This position is grant funded.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist with recruitment, scheduling appointments, obtaining written consent forms, collecting data by conducting phone interviews for research participant(s). 
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow proper data management procedures in the research study.   
  • Assist with EEG, fMRI, and TMS/TBS research procedures conducted in healthy and psychiatric populations, including data collection and analysis. 
  • General day to day administrative duties for the lab. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in psychology, neuroscience, sociology or related research field.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
  • Working knowledge of research methodology and data collection/management strongly preferred.
  • Prior related work experience in a research setting preferred.
  • Prior experience working in behavioral health preferred.
