To assist in all tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the boilers, chillers and all other auxiliary equipment necessary for producing steam, chilled water and reheat water. To assist in the maintenance activities of the department.

  • Repairs other portable equipment as assigned. Responsible for the care and maintenance for all assigned Hamot tools and equipment.
  • Performs feed water testing, flue gas analysis and maintains appropriate records as directed
  • Maintains effective communication with Facilities Engineering staff and other medical center personnel. Reports and records all pertinent information in log books and daily reports.
  • Work with and maintain accuracy of asset management program.
  • Maintains Water Pressure Boosting Systems, Medical Gas Source Equipment and Plant air compressors.
  • Demonstrates Hamot's commitment to Service Excellence by understanding the needs of patients, their families, physicians and co-workers and doing what is required the first time, every time by being responsible, sensitive, accurate, timely, coordinated and thorough.
  • Operates the boilers, chillers, and associated equipment under limited supervision. Helps maintain Environmental Building equipment. Checks pressures, temperatures and water levels and makes adjustments as necessary for efficient operation.
  • Maintains professional growth and keeps current with all of the latest changes in the boiler and incinerator operation.


  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • One year experience in the trade field, vocational training preferred
  • Must be able to read & interpret shop drawings, installation plans and operating instructions
  • This position typically reports to the Power Plant Supervisor

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Class II stationary engineers license issued by the City of Erie, PA, Ord. 36-1974 passed 5/8/74
