Clinical Educator-WPH

Description

Plan, coordinate, supervise and implement the activities related to Allegheny County Alcohol, Tobacco and Other drug (ATOD) and violence and gambling prevention and education. Identify needs for educational programs for teachers, addiction and mental health professionals and student assistance teams. Utilize evidenced-based prevention and training curricula as determined by the Addiction Medicine Services, Program Manager in conjunction with Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Drug and Alcohol Programs and Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP).

 

Our AMS prevention program is a creative, diverse group of 9 staff members who work to provide high quality prevention services to the community. Although we work with separate schools/centers and on different projects, we often collaborate and share materials/creative ways to present our services and engage with the children, families, and professionals we work with. Travel within Allegheny County is required in this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Addiction Medicine, WPIC leadership in carrying out the duties and mandates related to a broad range of prevention activities.
  • Participate in and coordinate addiction related coalitions and conferences for the region and the state.
  • Coordinate and implement special requests from contractors and regulatory entities as they pertain to ATOD prevention services.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement addiction-related education and prevention programs as determined by community needs, school system requirements and directives from local, regional and state regulatory bodies.
  • Provide training and consultation to Allegheny County School Districts and other provider agencies in the implementation of the PA Department of Education Student Assistance Program.
  • Provide evidence-based prevention programs throughout Allegheny County for professional, business, faith and community organizations in diverse geographic neighborhood with varying age groups and populations.

Qualifications

  • Master's level professional with a degree in the education and/or human service field required.
  • Three years of experience in teaching, treatment or related prevention field required.
  • Knowledge of federal and state addiction prevention programs is preferred

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

    CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter

  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Driver's License
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
