Project Analyst, Health Plan - Grants Administration

Description

UPMC Health Plan is hiring two full-time Project Analysts to support the Grants Administration department within the UPMC Center for High-Value Health Care business unit. These will be Monday through Friday daylight roles (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. / 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.). These positions will be based downtown Pittsburgh, PA and will require frequent day travel to various hospitals (with occasional overnight travel). Due to COVID-19 circumstances, the incumbents will mostly work remotely (when not traveling), and will be expected to periodically attend meetings/trainings, etc. in the office.

 

The UPMC Center for High-Value Health Care is a non-profit research organization, housed within the UPMC Insurance Services Division, which focuses on innovations including optimizing clinical programs and payment models across the UPMC integrated health care delivery and financing system and building an extramural portfolio of research that holds promise for achieving the triple aim of improved health outcomes, reduced cost, and enhanced patient experience.

 

The Project Analyst will be responsible for supporting the execution of a large Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) study focusing on interventions to reduce readmissions among individuals hospitalized for sepsis or lower respiratory infections. The Project Analyst will be responsible for providing operational and research support for the PCORI project including participant enrollment and retention, working with the study team on the preparation of protocols, planning meetings, developing and overseeing data collection and data entry processes, and initiating participant payments through the Vincent system, and providing technology support for participants. Knowledge and understanding of sound data collection practices, clinical environments, research design, and ensuring timely completion of data collection is necessary.

 

The Project Analyst is responsible for timely and accurate reporting of study data and information sets to multiple stakeholder groups. The Project Analyst is responsible for managing multiple study processes at any given time. The incumbent must use knowledge and understanding of UPMC internal processes and information systems to recommend and implement with project plan. 




Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with members of UPMC management and staff regarding assigned tasks 
  • Assist in the development of business cases, work plans, communications, etc.
  • Maintain project documents within approved archival systems.
  • Generate necessary project documentation, including meeting minutes, project deliverables, etc.
  • Handle project administrative duties including scheduling requirements, SharePoint requirements, etc.
  • Advise supervising Project Manager and others of study progress pending due dates.
  • Identify and help resolve potential issues and/or barriers which are critical to the success of a project.
  • Ensures the successful recruitment and retention of study participants
  • Works with participants, as needed, to complete study measures across data collection time points
  • Works with the study and Center team to deliver on all milestones and deliverables outlined in the PCORI contract
  • Oversees successful fulfillment of participant payments
  • Provides updates on study activities as necessary.
  • Provides ongoing technical assistance to study participants in our technology-focused intervention arm
  • Assists in the development of presentations and manuscripts
  • Conducts literature reviews and prepares summaries of relevant topics assigned by Center team

Qualifications

  • B.A. degree and 2 years experience (preferred).
  • Experience in health care insurance or health care industry preferred 
  • Excellent computer skills required, including MS Office Suite 
  • Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written) are required.
  • Very well organized and deadline conscious. 
  • Project Management knowledge and future potential to manage multiple projects required.
