Description
Purpose:Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced level research and/or clinical and administrative support for the research study.
- Mentor, train, and assist with supervising junior research staff as needed.
Maintain induced pluripotent stem cell cultures (iPSC)
Differentiate iPSCs into different central nervous system cell types
Perform viral infections of iPSC-derived neuronal culture
Perform tissue sections, immunohistochemistry analyses, RT qPCR, in situ hybridization, Western Blotting, DNA cloning, DNA extraction and DNA variant analyses
Perform in silico analyses of public genomic and infectious disease databases
Maintain proper records of all laboratory tests, including data entry into computerized data bases.
Obtain and/or transport human tissue when required, as part of the research.
Maintain inventory of chemicals and laboratory ware. Order fresh supplies as required.
Disposal of laboratory wastes, as required.
Perform statistical analyses
Perform manuscript preparation and pursue publication of scientific correspondence.
Assist in preparation of grant applications
Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Masters degree required preferably in psychology, neuroscience, counseling, sociology, or related research field. Masters Degree in biology, microbiology, molecular genetics highly preferred.
- Minimum of two years work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required. Four years of laboratory research highly preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
- Working knowledge of research methodology required.
