Sonographer Adv

Description

The Sonographer performs imaging procedures at an advanced level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of advanced technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities:
  • Protocol for lab specimen delivery.
  • Knowledge and compliance of a sterile field.
  • Utilize the Radiology Information System/Cerner/Telerad & Medicine Reconciliation effectively and accurately.
  • Restocking of supplies.
  • Exhibits advanced level of knowledge related to normal anatomy and pathology. Able to recognize pathology and the ability to think critically, assessing the patient results for communication with the physician.
  • Works directly with Radiologists regarding protocol development.
  • Performs all job responsibilities of Level I Sonographer.
  • Assist with the training of staff and student sonographers.
  • Participates in standardization activities with system-level workgroups.
  • Conveys results to patients and ordering clinicians where appropriate and when given permission by attending physician.
  • Performs or assists Clinical Specialist in performing QA, regulatory testing, and other technical and research initiatives.
  • Demonstrates the ability to function independently, and is able to cover off shifts, on-call responsibilities, and perform services at satellite facilities, where applicable, while continually communicating with lead and management team.

Qualifications

  • Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required. 
  • 2 years of ultrasound experience required. 
  • Performance review consistent with minimum of strong/ Solid performance on last performance review.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
RDMS Registered CPR or BLS Preferred. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
