Description
UPMC Corporate Supply Chain is hiring a Fleet Mechanic II for our Harrisburg, PA location. This regular, full-time position primarily works from 7:00am-3:30pm, Monday through Friday.Responsibilities:
- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
- Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services
- Road test vehicles when necessary
- Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
- Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
- Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
- Specialize in repairing and maintaining parts of the engine, such as fuel injection systems.
- Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair order
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
- Maintain work area appearance and safety
- Test drive trucks and buses to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
- Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
- Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
- Identify and determine parts required for repair of disassembled units
Qualifications
- A mechanic with a minimum of six (6) years practical experience or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is required.
- A mechanic should have specialized training and experience/knowledge and understanding of theory and concept of major components (i.e. engines, transmissions, etc.)
- Proficient in the use of all tools of the trade (Welding and painting equipment, power tools and shop machinery).
