Thomas H. Nimick Competitive Research Fund is looking for a Research Grants Administrator! This position is limited casual, working remotely, roughly 8-10 hours per week. A Bachelor's degree in Business, accounting, finance, or related area and 2 years of experience in Accounting, Business, or related grant operational area are required. 

Responsible for pre and post award accounting activity and/or the financial statements in accordance with CHP policies and terms and conditions of the award. Efficiently produces analyses and financial data reporting by the established deadlines and requirements.



  • Improve and/or support others in improving the health and well being of all children through excellence in patient care, teaching and research.
  • Responsible for all grant accounting including preparation of grant budgets, maintaining and monitoring all research accounts.
  • All other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Analyze and interpret budgets for new research grant submissions.
  • Attend annual Hospital and departmental fire/safety and infection control training and maintain current knowledge of safety procedures within the Hospital and department.
  • Continually develops and maintains necessary computer skills in a changing environment.
  • Ensure that all regulatory and CHP policies are met and that the proposed research project has been reviewed and approved by the Division and Department.
  • Maintains research travel accounting; submits reimbursement requests for employees and Principal Investigators.
  • Interact with various CHP departments pertaining to financial reports and budgeting.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and non-federal sponsor requirements.
  • Responsible for completing and submitting the proposal summary for all proposed research projects.
  • Submit payroll for research staff employees.
  • Create purchasing requisitions for other than scientific laboratory supplies.
  • Make recommendations to improve procedures as needed.
  • Prepare and distribute computer generated monthly financial status reports that include reconciled actual expenditures and encumbered expenditures for each research grant. Analyzes, presents and interprets this material to Director, Administrative Manager and Department Administrator.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, accounting, finance, or related area.
  • 2 years of experience in Accounting, business, or related grant operational area.
  • Knowledge and ability to effectively apply GAAPStrong accounting, finance, budgeting, writing and computer skills required.
  • Motivated individual who will independently or as a member of a team to meet established goals.
  • Excellent oral and written skills required.
  • Must be willing to learn in a fast paced environment.
