Description
Purpose:
Identifies, obtains and reviews the medical record of patients and performs direct observation of clinical processes within the hospital with the purpose of extracting data relevant to the Joint Commission's Professional Practice Evaluation program. Assists in the maintenance of the program by completing data sheets and entering data into the computer, extracting information and constructing reports.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare summary reports and graphs that describe the results of reviews.
- Maintain supporting documentation to support electronic input
- Utilizes appropriate computer systems to obtain data, enter data and develop reporting tools. Understands and maintains knowledge of regulatory and/or standards by actively reviewing and updating process to reflect the requirements.
- Assist with the analysis of data using query tools and perform data queries/analysis on an ad-hoc basis.
- Collect, prepare, and present accurate, timely data to display results of process improvements that allow for trending and easy to understand. Reviews data and analyzes outcomes for patterns and trends in order to communicate findings related to standards, evidenced based practices, and policies for the improvement of processes.
- Utilizes appropriate computer systems to obtain data, enter data and develop reporting tools.
- Perform chart reviews on selected cases and extract pertinent demographic and clinical information from the medical record.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of and experience in clinical data analysis required
- Five (5) years of medical-surgical experience required.
- Registered Nurse (RN) required or current Perfusionist license (ARRT, CVIS, HCV, PERF) required at time of hire.
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology required.
- Cerner and Apollo knowledge preferred
- Basic knowledge of CMS SCIP measures preferred Demonstrated ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality required. High level of energy and ability to work with some degree of independence required. Demonstrated desire to be consistent and accurate in daily tasks required. Ability to learn computer data entry required. Strong knowledge/capability with Microsoft Office Products and basic computer skills required
