Description
Using the scheduling and registration systems, registers and schedules patients for multiple departments of Hamot Health Foundation; following government and insurance regulations for COB and medical necessity. Obtains updated insurance information for proper reimbursement. Secures all information necessary to complete both the scheduling and registration process in a professional and expeditious manner. This position requires full accountability in both scheduling and registration functions as well as an outpatient cardiovascular diagnostic/imaging center.
Responsibilities:
- Using computerized scheduling systems, schedules procedures and prioritizes with appropriate locations and departmental requirements assuring timeliness, correct sequencing and proper preparations. Obtains and adapts appropriate information from ordering physician, patient or Hamot department(s) regarding demographics, test required and pertinent clinical information and/or diagnosis. Coordinates the test and diagnosis with insurance requirements to secure the best financial reimbursement.Modifies and maintains scheduling templates for all departments in conjunction with direct supervisor and the Information Systems Department. Performs the outpatient registration encounter with patients to obtain/verify accurate demographic and financial information to secure the best financial reimbursement. When applicable, utilizes the appropriate insurance verification programs
- Demonstrates knowledge of insurance and managed care requirements including ongoing updates/changes with insurances companies. Secures referrals, authorization numbers or waivers to guarantee maximum reimbursement. Attends registration update seminars as needed.Distributes medical reports within 24 hours of receipt. Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate procedure for HIPPA regulations of medical records. Maintains a working knowledge of Invision Patient Care System and Soarian Clinical Record in order to perform data entry of patient charges and medical record retrieval. Maintains and replenishes all office supplies and equipment.Data entry of daily charges with quality assurance performed. Compiles daily schedules and records statistical data.Demonstrates Hamot's commitment to service excellence by understanding the needs of patients, their families, physicians and co-workers and doing what is required the first time, every time by being responsible, sensitive, accurate, timely, coordinated and thorough.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a Medical office program or High School Diploma with three years of medical office experience
- Broad knowledge of insurance requirements and regulations Excellent communication skills
- Medipac or EPIC experience preferred
