Research Associate WPIC

Description

Inpatient Child and Adolescent Bipolar Services (In-CABS), located currently at Western Psychiatric Hospital, is a quality-improvement initiative and a novel, first-stage program aiming to facilitate early identification, ruling out, and treatment of Bipolar Spectrum Disorders (BP) in youth. In-CABS serves adolescents and their families to rule-in as well as to rule-out bipolar spectrum disorders. The program includes comprehensive diagnostic assessment as well as mood/energy charting, sleep scheduling, diet/exercise/medication education, and novel assessment and educational materials.


The new study, with mPIs Drs. Diler and Bertocci, will include imaging and neurocognitive measures to better elucidate neural-behavioral mechanisms that can predict development of BP in adolescents.


This position will be involved in every aspect of the study including conducting clinical assessments, neuroimaging, and cognitive assessment procedures. This position will also be responsible for follow up phone visits every six months and conducting the assessment at the final visit at year 2. He/she will coordinate the study with inpatient staff.


This position is grant funded.

Purpose:
Assist in the execution of research protocols and services.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with recruitment, scheduling appointments, obtaining written consent forms, collecting data by conducting phone or face to face interviews for research project(s)
  • Maintain accurate documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required preferably in psychology or related field
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required
  • Prior related work experience in a research setting preferred
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
